An AI interview assistant is software that listens to an interview and writes an answer for you to read, based on your own background. How it differs from a mock interview
A mock interview is practice. An AI interviewer asks you questions, usually by voice, and you answer out loud before the real day. What it does
- Listens to the call. In a browser it hears the sound of the tab you share. In the Windows app it hears the sound of your PC and your microphone.
- Writes an answer from your story. It uses your resume, the job description and the notes you upload, so the answer sounds like you and not like a generic reply.
- Lets you set the style. You choose the length and tone of the answer, or ask for short hints instead of a full answer.
- Waits for you. It does not answer by itself. You press Answer, or type your own question and press Ask.
When is it allowed?
That depends on the employer and the interviewer, not on the software. Some interviews allow AI help and some do not. Ask, or read the rules you were given, before you use an assistant in a real interview. Where the answer is no, a mock interview is a good way to prepare without it.
What it is not
It is not a replacement for knowing your own experience, and it promises no result. It cannot decide what you say. It gives you words to read from your own material, and you choose whether to use them.
